Events Student Assistant Position

Job Description

The Master of Arts in Global Policy (MAGP) program at JHU’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, DC is seeking an organized, industrious and self-motivated student to oversee the catering and other logistical requirements during MAGP weekend classes, seminars and other special events. 

The Events Student Assistant reports to MAGP’s program coordinator and coordinates with MAGP’s catering providers to ensure that food, beverages and utensils are properly set-up for MAGP’s cohort and faculty during their classes on alternating weekends (Fridays and Saturdays only). Other related tasks may be assigned. The successful applicant should meet the following requirements:

  • Reside in close proximity to the SAIS campus in Dupont Circle (Washington, DC)
  • Be a prompt “early-riser” and have excellent time-management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to bend and lift up to 20 lbs.

Time Commitment/Remuneration:

The position requires the availability to work from 7am to 2pm on alternating Fridays/Saturdays during the school year with additional hours for special events as needed. The position requires a nine-month commitment (September 2019 to May 2020) with a possible extension for the Summer of 2020 depending on availability and performance.  Salary rate is $14/hour.  Applicants must be matriculating Johns Hopkins University students and eligible to work within the JHU system. International students are welcome to apply.
