Why: to provide technology assistance and support to the faculty, staff, and students for Johns Hopkins University’s Advanced Academic Programs
Where: 1717 Massachusetts Ave NW, (across the street from Nitze and DuPont Circle)
When: Shifts cover our evening classes, held Monday through Thursday from 5pm to 10pm.The normal daily shift is 4 or 5 hours.
Hours per week: 8 to 20
Ideally, we would like to hire 2 students who would each cover 2 nights. The position is responsible for supporting two computer labs, several “smart” classrooms, and public print stations. Responsibilities include: helping to set up equipment; responding to requests for assistance with software applications, email, or connecting to the wireless network; troubleshooting file access and/or printing problems; resolving ad-hoc computer and equipment issues; and ensuring a smooth flow of classes and events. You will also become familiar with connecting our PolyCom video conference systems, and help with Zoom meetings.
If you are good at technology, we can train you to do the job. Good working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, and various software, including browsers and email; experience with connecting and troubleshooting audio/visual equipment such as TVs, projectors, and VCRs. Must have excellent communication skills with emphasis on service and customer satisfaction; have the ability to work independently; handle multiple priorities; be punctual and dependable, and have enthusiasm towards learning new technologies. We don’t expect you to know everything, but we do expect you to learn and become skillful with using our technology and equipment.
